Now -Feb. 3: “Between Fences,” John Logan Museum, Murphysboro, open Tues-Sun, a Smithsonian exhibit, telling the history of the past through photographs and stories (the exhibit also focuses on Gen. Feb. 5: Build Birdhouses & Feeders at Cypress Creek National Wildlife Refuge, rsvp 634-2231(over 250 species of birds migrate through Southern Illinois); the Cache River Wetland Center is open Wed. through Sunday! located south off Hwy 37, the 7,000 sq. feet facility houses dioramas, exhibits & pictures telling the  history and culture of the Cache River area, plus hands on activities, things for the kids, outdoor boardwalks and a sighting telescope to see the nesting eagles across the road! 634-9678

NEW for 2006! The Southern Illinois Tourism Dev. Office will be producing the first Regional Tourism Guidebook for the 22 counties in our beautiful downstate Illinois!. This 40 page glossy full color magazine will showcase attractions, events, plus dining and lodging, parks and recreation areas, & some of our unique trails and places to shop. This unique guide will be distributed throughout the state at welcome centers, trade shows and per visitor request.
